The
Poás Volcano
The
Poás Volcano is currently located in Central America, specifically in the
country of Costa Rica; bordering Nicaragua in the west and Panama in the east.
Poás Volcano name comes in honour of the scientist who studies the crater and
the surrounding woods. Poás Volcano actually is in activity but no represent a
risk for Costa Rica and
others countries of Central America . Poás
eruptions often include geyser-like ejection of crater-lake water. There are two crater lakes near its summit. The northern lake is known as the Laguna Caliente. It is one
of the world's most acidic lakes. Acidity of the lake varies after rain and
changes in volcanic activity. Lake
Botos , the southern lake,
fills an inactive crater. It is cold and clear, and is surrounded by a could forest located within the Poás Volcano National Park. This lake gives it name because an ancient tribe called
Botos, lived in the forest of the place near the volcano and the lakes. The water from
these two lakes is not considered potable by the volcano
radioactive waste. Poás Volcano is one of the most famous tourist places of the
country because it attracts people and scientists of many different countries.
